The 30th anniversary of the Russian segment of the Internet was celebrated on April 7 at the Russia International Exhibition
and Forum in Moscow. The event gathered representatives from major Internet companies, along with pioneers of Runet, who discussed the early days of the Internet in the 1990s and the significant changes over the past three decades.
Mediascope, founded in the same year as Runet, shared insights on the evolution of Internet measurements in Russia.
Key milestones include:
- 1994 — Mediascope was founded, marking the beginning of our first marketing research.
- 2006 — Launch of Internet audience measurement through the Web Index project.
- 2012 — Expansion of Internet audience measurement to cover the entire country.
- 2013 — Introduction of mobile Internet audience measurements.
- 2021 — Relaunch of Internet measurements using a new methodology, enabling deep analysis of user behavior through the Cross Web project.
